Learning Objectives
The course aims to guide students in the in-depth study of Chinese literary works from the Song Dynasty to modern/contemporary China; special attention will be paid to the connection between historical and cultural events and philosophical views. Through the study of selected works analyzed during the course, the student will be able to read Chinese-language texts and translate them, and will acquire and develop skills in critical analysis and interpretation of reference texts.

Handout of translated Chinese texts.
Two novels to be read in translation by authors studied either from the imperial era or the twentieth century/contemporary period
- Assessment
The examination consists of an oral interview on the topics covered in the course. It consists of two parts: the first consists of 4-5 questions aimed at verifying the acquisition of the theoretical knowledge (history of Chinese literature and its cultural-historical context) imparted during the course; the second consists of the reading, translation and commentary of some among the texts presented during the course. Active participation in the lectures will also be taken into account.
