Learning Objectives
Knowledge of art history from the 13th and 14th centuries.
Program
Study of the most relevant texts used by artists in the creation of their works; for iconography Legenda aurea by Jacopo da Varagine, for Saints Francis and Clare the Legenda major by Bonaventurada Bagnoregio, Dante's Divine Comedy for the depiction of the Last Judgments and the Triumph of Death. For the use of techniques De arte illuminandi by unknown and Cennino Cennini's Book of Painting. Such analyses are followed by the most emblematic examples: from the Master of Bufalmacco to Giotto, from Simone Martini to Duccio di Boninsegna and the Lorenzetti brothers, Ambrogio and Pietro.
Bridging Courses
Ability to connect written sources and tradition with works of art including through socio-historical contextualization. Knowledge of art history from the 13th and 14th centuries.
Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
By the end of the course, the student should have acquired the ability to read the texts used by artists in the creation of their works, orient themselves in reading the artwork so as to contextualize it and understand the source of reference.

- Assessment
Oral examination and essay discussion.
- Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)
Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
