Learning Objectives

The course aims to make students familiar with longue-durée “values” of Russian culture in comparison with European culture.

These values will be analyzed by examining the seminal moments of Russian culture.

At the same time, the course aims to enable the students to effectively communicate what they have learnt and to argue for their own view.

Russia between tradition and modernity: a comparison both axiological and ideological with the West

2. “Grand narrative”, cultural identity, ideocracy, national culture.

Assessment

The exam consists of 3 open-ended questions and it lasts 90 minutes.

In addition to the content, the evaluation will also specifically consider the students' ability of clearly, coherently, and effectively communicating and arguing for his own views.

Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.

To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.

Notes

Beginning from academic year 2014-15 the course lasts one academic year.

It is not true, as it is written above, that this is a 'Course with optional materials in a foreign language': the materials in foreign language will be compulsory for both attending and non-attending students. Unfortunately, the system does not allow for any other choice of materials (sic!).
