Learning Objectives
The course gives students the opportunity to learn the discipline of engineering/applied geology and the laws that govern such discipline. The aim of the course is to provide a first overview of the professional activity of a geologist and the basic preparation to obtain the Italian qualification for the profession of geologist. In particular, the knowledge about soil and rocks will be provided and problems regarding the stability of slopes, foundation and excavation analyzed. Finally, the updated law which govern the above mentioned problems/cases will be studied and discussed. Practical exercises and field trip will be performed during the course.

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
The course aims to provide the student with knowledge regarding soil and rock mechanics, in order to be able to face geotechnical problems related to the construction of infrastructures, stability analyses and excavations.

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
