Learning Objectives
From the knowledge gained in the field of clinical psychology, the laboratory aims to develop clinical skills in operations of a diagnostic nature, assessment in terms of prognosis, outcomes, and possible therapeutic interventions. This competence is embodied in the ability to develop clinical reasoning in the assessment of individual cases. This means bringing the general theories of clinical psychology of a phenomenological-dynamic setting into close articulation (maintaining the principles of coherence and ostensibility) with the symptoms, lived experiences, and history of the individual patient and his or her relationships.
Students are expected to demonstrate that they have acquired this knowledge by completing exercises during the lab and by writing a final paper.
Program
The program is divided into two steps. The first step consists of applying the various diagnostic criteria according to contemporary nosography to specific individual cases drawn from the literature or proposed by the lecturer. The second step consists of making the diagnosis the starting point for clinical reasoning that makes sense of the patient's clinical picture, relating the clinical manifestations of his suffering to an in-depth knowledge of his lived world and the history of his experiences, life events, any traumatic experiences, and the history of his relationships.
Each day's work includes the first part of the theoretical-methodological framing of a clinical case and the second part of a group exercise.
Teaching Material
The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it
