Learning Objectives

The laboratory aims to develop technical skills targeting ECEC educators working with birth-to-3-year-olds. In the course, theoretical and practical aspects related to the activities that characterize childcare services will be explored. The workshop also aims to provide some practical tools to interact in the childcare services not only with the child, but also with the educational equipe and the family.

Program

The program will be divided into four sections:

1) personal and professional skills of ECEC educators.

2) organization, structure and life at the childcare service.

3) the roles of the childcare service (educators, coordinator, etc.)

4) design of educational activities, language and cognitive stimulation in childcare services.

Acquisition of practical skills regarding the organization, management and programming of programs targeting the 0-3 age group.

Teaching Material

The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it

All materials will be shared on the blended learning website by the instructor.


Teaching, Attendance, Course Books and Assessment

Teaching

The course includes:

  • online face-to-face lectures
  • drafting of written papers/ppt/audio/video group presentations
  • participatory lectures in which the topics covered in class will be discussed

Attendance

Attendance is mandatory. Only one absence is possible. Any absence must be formally motivated (work/medical justification).

Assessment

Students are expected to create an ebook at the end of the four lectures containing the content covered during the workshop.

Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.

To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.

At the end of the laboratory, the submitted ebook will be evaluated and based on this, the student will be able to pass the laboratory.
