Learning Objectives
The course introduces the essential lines of general and social psychology from a historical and conceptual point of view, providing students with notions, methods and tools typical of psychology, with a particular focus on the main psychological functions and the most relevant social phenomena. The general objective is to provide conceptual and methodological tools to develop and support the ability to read psychological processes.
Specifically, the course aims to promote the following specific training objectives in the students: they will master the main constructs, the main theories and the main methodologies of psychology. They will know the disciplinary contents of the main psychological functions. They will delve into issues related to the influence that the social context has on cognitive processes, on communication - verbal and non-verbal -, on behavior and on the development of the individual. They will understand how theories and methods of social psychology can be applied in different social contexts. They will possess a critical sense and independent judgment towards theories and research in the psychological field. They will know the specific vocabulary of the discipline and will use it appropriately.
Program
The course will address the main themes of general and social psychology by emphasising the close link between the theoretical sphere and applied research.
Particular attention will be paid to the practical aspects and social impact of the research conducted in this area.
The various individual psychological processes in connection with the social and relational dynamics within which people are embedded will also be addressed.

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
In relation to General and Social Psychology the student must show possession:
(a) the mastery of basic knowledge;
(b) an understanding of the fundamental concepts of the discipline;
c) the ability to use knowledge and concepts to reason according to the logic of the discipline.

Teaching, Attendance, Course Books and Assessment
- Teaching
Bibliographic references and supplementary teaching opportunities will be added to frontal teaching, as well as in-depth seminars.
- Attendance
Attendance at least three-quarters of the lesson hours. Study of the texts in the syllabus and of the material indicated by the lecturer in the course of the lessons.

- Assessment
Oral examination.
Qualitative assessment criteria and parameters will be used to ascertain the level of skills demonstrated in the various areas of learning (mastery of knowledge, ability to apply knowledge, to elaborate ideas, to explain, to argue). In particular, the following will be observed: knowledge of concepts, knowledge of techniques and procedures, mastery of scientific language and critical exercise.
- Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)
Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.

Students who will not be able to access frontal teaching are invited to follow the bibliographical indications and in-depth studies made available on the platform moodle.
