Learning Objectives
Digital is one of the most used adjectives of this turn of the century. It is not a neologism, but it has taken on a meaning that evokes information technologies, progress and innovation. In this sense, the adjective appears in the strategic agendas of all countries in the world, but also indicates the gap between those who master new technologies and those who cannot keep up with a technological development that is advancing at an unprecedented pace.
This course restarts from the definition of "digital" to help achieve a very ambitious goal: that no one feels excluded from a revolution that has such deep roots in the history of humanity that it can trace its origins to prehistoric times.

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
Knowledge and understanding. The course provides the knowledge and understanding of the concept of digital representation of information and its implications in the history of humanity and in daily life, appreciating its highly multidisciplinary aspects.
Ability to apply knowledge and understanding. The course allows you to apply the fundamental concepts of digital coding of information and to identify situations, activities and processes, not necessarily IT, that make use of digital representations. The trainees learn to calculate and manage the relationship between information content and the size of the representation, as well as to discriminate the digital components of a system or process from the analog ones.
Autonomy of judgment. The course stimulates the autonomy of judgment in the use of digital representations and in the relationship between human beings and technologies.
Communication skills. The elements covered in the course focus on the importance of communication. The participation of distinguished scientists from different disciplines allows students to develop skills for interdisciplinary dialogue and to appreciate their skills in cultural and scientific dissemination.
Learning ability. The course contributes to developing learning skills by strengthening, with a scientific basis, the awareness of the strength of language.
