Learning Objectives

Aim of the course:

Students can understand the main content of complex texts on concrete and abstract topics; they can also understand technical discussions in their own area of specialization. Students will be able to communicate so spontaneously and fluently that a normal conversation with native speakers is possible without any great effort on either side. They can also express themselves clearly and in detail on a wide range of topics, explain a point of view on a topical issue and state the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

Program

In addition to knowledge of grammatical structures and subject-specific vocabulary, students should also learn to carry out independent research on German websites and gain an insight into the current situation in German-speaking countries.

Text comprehension, independent writing of formal letters/emails and in-depth grammatical structures are among the skills required in the written exam.

Listening comprehension is deepened subject-specifically and topic-related in 2 weekly lessons.

At the end of the 2nd semester, all course participants should be able to speak spontaneously and fluently about all topics covered and understand specialist discussions. They should also be able to express opinions on current topics and be able to state the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

Short films and commercials are part of the teaching program.
