Learning Objectives
At B1 level, learners:
- understand the main points of familiar topics related to school, leisure, etc.;
- can handle most situations likely to arise while traveling in a country where the language is spoken;
- are able to produce simple texts on topics of personal interest or familiarity;
- can describe experiences, events, dreams, hopes, and ambitions, and briefly explain their opinions or plans.

- The English verb system: main verbs, primary auxiliaries, modal auxiliaries;
- Verb tenses: present and past simple/continuous, present and past perfect simple/continuous;
- Future forms: will/shall, be going to (do), present continuous, present simple, future continuous, future perfect;
- Conditionals: first, second, and third;
- Passive voice;
- Relative clauses: defining and non-defining;
- Reported speech;
- Gerunds and infinitives;
- Used to (do) and be/get used to (doing);
- Phrasal verbs (separable and inseparable);
- Articles: a/an and the;
- Countable and uncountable nouns;
- Some/any;
- Possessive 's;
- Adjectives and adverbs: comparative and superlative forms;
- Reflexive pronouns;
- Prepositions;
- Word order in sentences: verb + object, place, and time;
- Placement of adverbs in sentences.
Reading Comprehension
This part of the course will focus on the comprehension of B1-level texts from various sources, with special emphasis on topics related to business and the world of work.
Writing
Students will learn to write simple, coherent texts about familiar topics or topics of personal interest; describe experiences, events, and aspirations; briefly justify opinions or explain plans; and compose both formal and informal emails.
