Learning Objectives

At B1 level, learners:

  • understand the main points of familiar topics related to school, leisure, etc.;
  • can handle most situations likely to arise while traveling in a country where the language is spoken;
  • are able to produce simple texts on topics of personal interest or familiarity;
  • can describe experiences, events, dreams, hopes, and ambitions, and briefly explain their opinions or plans.

Grammar

  • The English verb system: main verbs, primary auxiliaries, modal auxiliaries;
  • Verb tenses: present and past simple/continuous, present and past perfect simple/continuous;
  • Future forms: will/shall, be going to (do), present continuous, present simple, future continuous, future perfect;
  • Conditionals: first, second, and third;
  • Passive voice;
  • Relative clauses: defining and non-defining;
  • Reported speech;
  • Gerunds and infinitives;
  • Used to (do) and be/get used to (doing);
  • Phrasal verbs (separable and inseparable);
  • Articles: a/an and the;
  • Countable and uncountable nouns;
  • Some/any;
  • Possessive 's;
  • Adjectives and adverbs: comparative and superlative forms;
  • Reflexive pronouns;
  • Prepositions;
  • Word order in sentences: verb + object, place, and time;
  • Placement of adverbs in sentences.


​​​​Reading Comprehension
This part of the course will focus on the comprehension of B1-level texts from various sources, with special emphasis on topics related to business and the world of work.

​​​​Writing
Students will learn to write simple, coherent texts about familiar topics or topics of personal interest; describe experiences, events, and aspirations; briefly justify opinions or explain plans; and compose both formal and informal emails.
