The aims of the training are to introduce the student to the knowledge of Excel, with particular emphasis on the statistical data analysis.

outline of statistics:

• Types of data: quantitative, qualitative, discrete, continuous
• Measures of position: mean, median, fashion
• Measures of dispersion: variance, standard deviation, coefficient of variation
• Frequency distributions and histograms
• Probability distributions (briefly): Normal, Binomial
• Basic statistical tests:
• Chi-square test
• Correlation and linear regression

the Excel worksheet: 

• the simplest mathematical functions,
• charting.
• conditional formatting,
• sharing data
• pivot tables and simple macros.

Statistics will be approached with the use of the software with the dual purpose of learning the software and gaining a deeper understanding of the theoretical concepts.

At the end of the course, the student will be able to:

• Apply descriptive and inferential statistical methods on real data;
• Use Excel effectively for statistical analysis;
• Interpret graphs and results in science and motorsport;
