Learning Objectives

This Master is intended as a training course aimed at developing a theoretical-practical competence related to the language of cinema. There will therefore be lectures on the history of cinema, the history of editing, film criticism, digital cinema, history of sound cinema. Such lectures will be accompanied by laboratories of film direction and editing, which will lead participants to acquire practical knowledge and skills in production, and to produce a final documentary. Furthermore, courses and seminars are planned to study film language in an interdisciplinary perspective: cinema as an instrument of intercultural study (Cinema and Italian / French / American culture, Cinema and identity), cinema in relation to other arts (Literature and cinema, cinema and intermediation), cinema in relation to other disciplines (Cinema and psychoanalysis).

Artistic production (direction, editing, video production); film criticism (publishing houses, websites); school teaching that includes the use of film language; scientific research.

The training plan is divided into a series of lectures, with relative laboratories and exercises; in the production of works in the field of film criticism and video production; in "stages" (internships) completed in companies operating in the film industry.

"STAGE" (INTERNSHIP) (10 CFU)

The final exam will consist of a written part, a practical part, and an oral part, sustained in the presence of a Commission formed by 3 members of the Teaching Committee of the Master.

Useful information

The Master is level I, therefore it is accessible for those in possession of a three-year degree or a higher degree.
Applicants must submit the application form by 7 September 2019.
The following documentation must be attached to the application:
a) degree certificate in plain paper with the list of exams taken and the relative marks. Self-certification is allowed instead of the degree certificate
b) curriculum vitae et studiorum
c) any qualifications (publications or videos) deemed useful for the evaluation of the admission application.
The photocopy of a valid identity document signed must be attached to the application.
Should the number of applications for admission exceed the maximum number of places available, a commission appointed by the Scientific Committee will evaluate the qualifications and convene candidates for motivational selection interviews which will be held on September 11th 2019, starting at 9.00 am, at one of the teaching facilities of the Master (see announcement). The communication of admission to the interview will be sent by e-mail.
The valuation of the securities, expressed in hundredths, will take into account:
curriculum: max 20 points;
graduation grade: max 10 points;
publications: max 10 points;
interview: max 60 points.
The score for the degree mark is as follows:
10 points for the university degree obtained with the highest grade;
8 points for the university degree obtained with a score not lower than 104;
4 points for the university degree obtained with a grade lower than 104.
The interviews will take place in such a way that each candidate is heard by at least two Commission Members.
The Commission, having consulted all the candidates, will draw up, with unanimous and unquestionable judgment, the final ranking, on the basis of which the ten admitted to the Master will be identified.
The list of admitted candidates will be published by 13 September 2019.
The Master will be activated only when the number of 10 students in good standing with the payment of the contribution has been reached.
