Learning Objectives
The course, aims to provide theoretical and practical knowledge on instrumental techniques employed in the purity of the drugs determinations, qualitative identification and quantitative dosage of active ingredients in a more or less complex systems, in the stability of the drugs and controls in research and identification of metabolites.
Program
1. Quality control of analytical methods
2. Chemical and physical properties of bioactive molecules
3. Titration and methods of chemical analysis
4. UV-Visible (Instrumentation Spectroscopy. Qualitative analysis: Correlation UV spectrum and chemical structure; effect of pH and solvent. Quantitative analysis: Lambert Beer law, construction of calibration line)
5. infrared Spectroscopy (instrumentation, pharmaceutical analysis applications, spectroscopy in the near infrared)
6. Atomic Spectrometry (atomic spectrometry and atomic absorption issue. Instrumentation and applications)
7. Spetroscopia molecular emission (fluorescence Spetrofotometria. Instrumentation and applications)
8) //
9. mass spectrometry (EI, CI, FAB, ESI, APCI and MALDI. Analyzers sector magnetic, single and triple quadrupole, time of flight and ion trap. Applications to the pharmaceutical and life science)
10-13. chromatographic techniques (Instrumentation and Applications: TLC, HPLC and GC. Detectors for HPLC: UV-Vis, UV-Vis photodiode, fluorimetric, refractometric, electrochemical and polarimetric. GC detectors: FID, thermal conductivity, electron capture. Qualitative analysis and quantitative techniques in chromatography).

Bridging Courses
To take the exam you must have passed the exam: Analytical Chemistry & Drugs Analysis I, Drugs Analysis II and Organic Chemistry I
Teaching Material
The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it
Teaching, Attendance, Course Books and Assessment
- Teaching
Lectures and laboratory exercises for groups and individuals
- Attendance
The frequency of laboratory exercises is mandatory. To gain access to the laboratory is necessary to have passed the examination of Organic Chemistry I and attended Drugs analysis II
- Course books
D. G. Watson Analisi Farmaceutica, terza edizione, edra ed.
- Assessment
Oral examination, with the approval of the practical part of the workshop
- Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)
Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
