Learning Objectives
The lessons examine the Chinese political, ethnic and national identity in relation to the political and cultural evolution of China. Through the analysis of the formation of a modern Chinese national identity, the lessons are designed to extrapolate the influence of Chinese traditional culture over the perception of the 'Other' in communist China.

History of Chinese pattern of relationship with the outside world
Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
Understanding of the relevance of Chinese cultural tradition in relation to the self-consciousness of Chinese people and to the perception of the 'Other' in contemporary China. Understanding of the ethnic pluralism of Chinese nation and of the position of China in the contemporary world order.
