Learning Objectives
Concerning History of Modern Philosophy the student will be required to possess:
- basic knowledge;
- understanding of the main concepts of the discipline;
- aptitude to use knowledge and concepts for reasoning in conformity to the logics of the discipline.
Program
reading and commentary of Hume's Treatise on Human Nature (book II).
argoments and timing: Hume, his times, life and works (four hours); personal identity and cause /effect relationship (four hours); pride and humility (eight hours); love and hate (eight hours); will and freedom (four hours); direct passions (six hours); reason and passions (two hours).
