Learning Objectives

The course will examine the fundamental characteristics of the problem of reproduction ( of labor and the conditions of citizenship ) as a perspective from which to view the institutions and political processes of modernity. The course has a considerable importance in the economy of the curriculum as it represents an important opportunity to combine conceptual and theoretical profiles of contemporary political thought with a number of issues on the agenda of political science and sociological debate

Program

The starting point of the course is the detection result of the global economic crisis on reproduction . The crisis , as it is known , does not affect only the wage levels , not only destroys jobs and sources of income , but drastically reduces the social conditions and isitituzionali the reproduction of labor power and citizenship ( education , training , health , infrastructure, and services , etc .. ) . This evidence , and analysis of its differential effects on social, economic and cultural areas and the areas affected by the crisis , are a good point of view to start a brief survey on the issue of government genealogical play as the focal point of the story institutions and political processes of the modern and contemporary world . After identifying the fundamental issues of the global economic crisis consequences on reproduction, the course will be devoted to an examination of some profiles of Foucault's genealogy of reproduction (the birth of the concept of the population; the security policy; the deployment of sexuality; biopolitics ; "politics of life in neo-liberalism" and the concept of human capital)

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)

The student must demonstrate their proficiency in the methodology and the content of a teaching of the third year of the degree course curriculum in political science, economics and government. The student will be able to connect the elements and issues purely historiographical analysis of some contemporary issues concerning the economic crisis, especially with regard to the crisis of the welfare and services relating to the reproduction of labor power. The preparation must be founded on a basic knowledge baggage related to the history of the welfare state and social services in the contemporary history.

The student will have to show that it has acquired a linguistic competence and adequate lexical with the argument; have assimilated some essential elements of technical terminology and learn the fundamental features of the bibliography.

The student must also gather information independently, as far as possible on individual aspects of the program and on interesse. Students should be able to use the tools of analysis and interpretation acquired for understanding some specific areas (domestic work; the care work; the transformation of personal services; the forms of governance of social services and their criticality, etc.).

Oral examination

The oral exam allows the student to organize a light show, fair by terminology views and possibly deepen the individual aspects of the program that have aroused his attention.

Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.

To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
