Learning Objectives
The course aims to train students on intercultural competences, especially the intense cultural contacts that linked Spain and Italy during the XVIII and XIX centuries.
Emphasis will be given on intercultural relationships between the intellectuals of both countries, from the most important phase of the Enlightenment, the last third of the century, until the last decades of the XIX.
It is intended to study some significant examples of travel literature of the period, apparently very similar and related, conceived as a privileged vehicle between the two Mediterranean cultures.
The course will cover cultural relations between Italy and Spain in the XVIII and XIX centuries, especially the issue of travel literature and travel experience as intercultural vehicles between Spain and Italy, tracing that writing a suggestive itinerary between both peninsulas.
