Learning Objectives
The course aims to introduce students to a direct knowledge of the most important writers of the early ‘20th century, in particular the authors of the prestigious Generation of ‘27 , as well as to be able to face the Spanish literature through a thematic and monographic study.
In the first place, it will be to approach the most important writers of the early decades of the 20th century, from 98 'to the generation of 27'. Successively it will examine the theatrical universe of Federico García Lorca -one of the highest expressions of the Spanish culture of the period-, focusing on the presence of the theme of the search for freedom of the characters of his tragedies. The texts of the rural trilogy – Bodas de Sangre, Yerma and La Casa de Bernarda Alba- that will be studied are artistic expressions through which Lorca is able to draw a new sense of the tragic.

2.The generation of ’27 and the Edad de Plata: Guillén, Salinas, Alberti, Aleixandre, M. Hernández, Lorca.
3.Introduction to the work of Federico García Lorca .
4.Myth and folklore in Lorca’s tragedies.
5.Garcia Lorca’s tragic trilogy and the representation of the female world: themes, characters, situations, and social environments.
