Learning Objectives
The course of History of Philosophy aims at facing the relationship among subjectivity, conflict, and dynamics of culture within modern and contemporary philosophical thought. In particular, Machiavelli, Rousseau, Hegel, Marx, and Simmel's main works will be investigated.
Program
- Subjects and dialectics of conflict. Culture, philosophy, anthropology and politics through Machiavelli.
- Modern subject metamorphosis. A critical history of consciousness among philosophy, autobiography and politics, through Rousseau.
- Conflict, desire, power and recognition through Hegel.
- Dialectics and conflict. Contemporay spectrographies through Marx.
- "Conflict is the place where Ego takes shape": subject/object through Simmel.
- Conflict in modern culture: subject/object. Through Simmel.
Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
With regards to the discipline, the student has to show the possession of:
- the mastery of basic knowledge;
- the understanding of the fundamentals of the discipline;
- the capacity of using skills and concepts according to the logic of the discipline.

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.

Notes
The three course books conform to the fixed 800 pages. The Professor is fully available for any agreement with Erasmus foreign students on personalised programmes.
