Learning Objectives

The course aims to provide the essential foundations of medieval archeology, both from the point of view of the history of the discipline both from the methodological point of view, presenting the development of the research topics, results and methodological problems, including through reading some archaeological contexts.

Knowledge and critical elaboration of the central themes of the Middle Ages. ability to judge and chronological position of the issues themselves.

Teaching Material

The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it

Supporting Activities

In the summer months it will be active excavation site at the Montecopiolo Castle (PU). Students attending the excavation will be housed at the Ce.A.M., Medieval Archaeology Centre, operating at the City of Montecopiolo. Recalls that the participation in the activity of excavation is critical to direct knowledge of the archaeological problems and medieval artifacts. Also participating in at least two weeks of excavation entitles the acquisition of credits. For registration fill out the online form on the portal of Medieval Archaeology (www.uniurb.it/archeologiamedievale). This year, during the course, it will be held a seminar on the Castle of Montecopiolo and Feretrano territory in the Middle Ages by Dr. Siegfried Vona.
