Learning Objectives

The course is aimed at acquiring the theoretical principles of psychology applied to amateur and agonistic, high-level sports. The course aims at mastering the concepts and elements of the psychopedagogical approach of physical exercise and of motor and sport activity in the service of psycho-emotional and relational growth of the subject of the evolutionary age.

Program

The course program focuses on the following core themes:

- the fate of the body in the various ages of life;

- introduction to the definition of sports psychology and the various fields of application in Italy; - risk factors and prevention factors contained in the word sport;

- psychopathology of the sport: specific and non-specific syndromes;

- sensations and role of automatisms; - main disadvantages of the disability we encounter in the sports world: dependencies and pathologies of the image itself;

- narcissism and doping;

-agonism, aggression and performance Game;

-functions such as capacity and various theories about the game;

-Psychological functions of ball movements;

-Sports career and end-of-career experience;

-Sports injury and stress recovery: the role of biofeedback

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)

Knowledge and understanding: The student must demonstrate the knowledge and understanding of the psychological concepts and aspects in the sports field for all ages at both amateur and high level levels.

Applied Knowledge and understanding : Students must be able to apply the acquired knowledge in the workplace so that they can capture psychological dynamics and formulate psychological intervention in amateur and high-level sports subjects.

Making judgements: Students must be able to acquire a wealth of knowledge to enable them to formulate a working hypothesis in the management of a sports group or a single person at a psychological-sports level.

Communication Skills: Students must demonstrate that they are able to clearly communicate the acquired knowledge, formulating concept ideas and hypotheses in a clear and exhaustive manner, and knowing how to adapt the language according to the interviewee.

Learning Skills : At the end of the course, the student will have to demonstrate that he has gained a good understanding of the various aspects and psychological dynamics in amateur and high-level sports.

Teaching Material

The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it

Supporting Activities

Within the course, completing the theoretical-clinical part of trauma rehabilitation, a seminar will be held on the biofeedback technique for clinical and non-rehabilitative stress recovery and management of anxiety and negative emotions Arising from the trauma incurred. The intervention will be carried out by an experienced consultant at the Institute of Medicine and Sports Science - Coni di Roma.

Frontal lessons and exercises.

Course books

-The main text is the main text is "Why Icaro Flights. Sports Psychology" published by Padua University Publishing House. The preparation for the examination will also include the study of the pdfs containing the contents of the program content and a book of choice from those listed in the bibliography in order to organize an oral presentation of a theme of personal interest.

Assessment

Oral Assessment.

The student must demonstrate that he has acquired the knowledge learned during the frontal lessons and through the textbook, in particular regarding:

- Mastery of declarative knowledge, understanding of concepts and situations;

- Ability to coordinate knowledge and skills to deal with complex or unedited situations.

Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.

To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.

A text chosen from the ones indicated by the teacher or a more analytical study of the topic selected as being of interest to read articles, volumes, etc.
