Learning Objectives
In the first course, students will learn the basic elements of phonology, morphology and syntax of the standard of the Arabic language.
The aim is to reach a level of understanding and expression of simple sentences in the written and spoken language of everyday life.
At the end of the course students will know how to present themselves and others; formulate questions and provide answers to satisfy simple needs of a concrete type (request information, make small purchases, read signs ...).
Program
Arabic alphabet and other signs of writing - article, definite and indefinite nouns - the declination of nouns - personal pronouns - prepositions - the state of annexation - gender and number of the names - adjective agreement - demonstratives - the times of the Arabic verb (perfect tense, imperfect tense, imperative mood, subjunctive, jussive, participles) - negation of different times - the verb “to be” - the cardinal and ordinal numbers up to 10.

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
- Knowledge and understanding: students will learn how to spell and read Arabic language along with an elementary vocabulary that will allow them to resort to simple communication formulas. They will take the basic elements of morphology and syntax, and develop the skills of listening, understanding and speaking on everyday topics.
- Applied knowledge and understanding: students will be able to read and write simple messages and use the formulas learned during the course. They will also be able to recognize and understand these formulas in dialogues and to respond adequately.
- Ability to discern: students will compare the basic elements of their language with those of the Arabic language and interact easily on everyday topics.
- Communication skills: students will be able to express themselves, ask information and formulate simple statements in areas of everyday life. They will know how to communicate in written and oral forms, at the elementary level of the Arabic language.
- Learning skills: Students will learn a study method useful to continue deepening the Arabic language. This will be pursued through lectures and exercises in the classroom as well as through the use of software.

Supporting Activities
The recommended books contain CD and educational materials adapted to the level. Any other material will be specified during the course and made available to all students, and not attendees.
