Learning Objectives
The course aims at:
1) introduce students to the Standard Chinese language (p??t?ng?huà), describing phonological, morphological and syntactical characteristics;
2) provide students with elementary written and reading skills
3) help students develop communicative and oral skills in Chinese basic conversation.
Program
Lessons programme
Elementary Chinese grammar:
1. Basic sociolinguistic aspects of Chinese Mandarin (p??t?ng?huà)
2. Phonology, morphology, pinyin system
3. Writing and analysis of simplified Chinese characters, introduction to Chinese radicals
4. Elementary Chinese language syntax (Chinese sentence structure)
5. Learning how to use Chinese dictionary
Teaching Material
The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it

Teaching, Attendance, Course Books and Assessment
- Teaching
Teaching methods include face-to-face lectures, exercise sessions, seminars. The course will include teaching practice lessons held by a mother tongue lecturer. Reading, writing and practice in conversation lessons will be conducted by Chinese lectors. The attendance to these lessons is highly recommended.

- Assessment
Assessment methods are oral exams and written tests. Dictionary is not allowed.
- Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)
Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
