Learning Objectives
The internship is designed to provide the student with basic knowledge on some of the techniques normally used in biochemistry and molecular biology. The primary objective is to illustrate to the students the techniques for the study of muscle cells in differentiation
Program
Introductory seminar on muscle cell differentiation and on the techniques suitable for studying it.
In the laboratory: •
· in vitro propagation of murine myoblasts
· specific staining for cellular structures in myoblasts and myotubes
· molecular biology techniques with particular attention to Real Time PCR for the study of gene expression
· electrophoretic techniques for the proteome study
Bridging Courses
none
Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
The student must be able to describe, with appropriate terminology, the above techniques (myoblasts and myotubes propagation, specific staining, nucleic acid preparation, reverse transcription, PCR and Real time PCR). The laboratory activity will allow the student to experiment and concretely apply the described techniques. Above all, he should be able to critically evaluate how to deal with the study of cell differentiation
Teaching Material
The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it
Supporting Activities
Any material will be given during the course
Practical activities in the laboratory are planned
Teaching, Attendance, Course Books and Assessment
- Teaching
lectures and activities in the laboratory
- Attendance
obligation to attend classes and laboratories
- Course books
Any material will be delivered during the course and / or uploaded to the moodle platform
- Assessment
The evaluation will be carried out by preparing a written report. The student must demonstrate adequate knowledge of the biomolecular techniques described and applied during the internship. It will also critically evaluate the applicability of these techniques to meet specific research needs
- Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)
Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
