Learning Objectives
The workshop, in continuing from the 1st year, aims to:
- reinforce the four basic skills of listening,speaking reading and writing through children's literature ;
· widen lexical knowledge;
· actively interact with language teaching (approaches, methodologies, activities, materials) with particular attention to storytelling.
Program
Starting from warming up and presentation activities aimed at understanding the general language level of the group, the workshop will then focus on encouraging students to reflect on what they have seen and heard, and respond actively to the materials. Students should be expected to take the role of the children they wll be teaching as well as the role of future teachers.
Particular focus will be made on the reading of “The Selfish Giant”, and the creation of a drama sketch based on the readings.
The language of the story will be analysed in both individual and group mode and will be used to help in the process of the dramatisation of the story.
Brief description of the lessons:
Lesson I: introduction to the story and familiarisation activities;
Lesson II: interaction with the story through vocabulary, grammar and listening activities;
Lesson III: reading of the book with particular focus on pronunciation;
Lesson IV: develop the story into a sketch which will be performed in front of other students studenti;
Lesson V: the final assessment and students' evaluation of the entire workshop experiences.
