Program

Elements of Public Health. Models of healthcare system. Community medicine. Health needs and socio-sanitary assistance. Health services and agencies. Italian National Health Service. Local Health Units, Hospitals, Department of Prevention, Sanitary District. Primary Healthcare Services. Physical activity promotion by Healthcare services.

Hygiene in rehabilitation care. Spread of drug-resistant microorganisms. Epidemiology and prevention of  healthcare associated infections. Standard preventive measures and measures based on modes of disease transmission. Preventive measures in case of biological hazard.

Physical activity in health protection and promotion. Physical activity for the prevention of non communicable diseases. Non communicable diseases and disability. Early diagnosis, diagnosis, treatment and  rehabilitation. Evaluation of interventions. Physical activity and cardiovascular diseases, cancer, osteoporosis, disability. Physical activity in intervention plans of non communicable diseases.

Elements of hydrology, crenology and hydrotherapy. Mineral waters and their classification; elements of the mechanism of action of mineral waters for hydropinic and external use. Mud baths and peloidotherapy. Techniques of thermal therapy. Rehabilitation pools.

Bioclimatology: climate classification and their impact on health and physical activity. Acclimatization and climate-dependent physiologic crisis.

Health and safety during sport. Injuries associated with sport and physical activity. Epidemiology of sports injuries. Health protection during sport. Certificates for physical activity.

Food safety and quality during rehabilitation.

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)

Students should achieve: 1. knowledge and skills of understanding: becoming able to identify health determiners and the role of physical activity in health promotion. Students can achieve those knowledges through attendance to lessons and seminars, and studying teaching material indicated by the teacher.2. Capability to apply knowledge and comprehension by drafting research themes, finding information and data, with in-depth theoretical and empirical analyses. Results are obtained by discussion during lessons, seminars and biblioraphic studies, also on the web.3. Capability of judgment: critical and detailed evaluation about health issues. Such capability will be achieved during lessons by discussion with the teacher and other students, and during the exam.4. Communication skills: by participating and discussing during lessons; being able to use techniques of communication. The student will be encouraged to use informatic tools for communication.5. Learning skills: by the development of abilities to analyse and evaluate problems students could achieve capability for individual judging.

Assessment

An oral exam will be used to assess learning outcomes. The grade is in a 30-point scale. Knowledge and skills of understanding will be evaluated through specific questions about program topics; capability to apply knowledge in a professional context, relevant with sport and physical activities, and capability of judgment about health education will be assessed; communication skills will be verified through clear speaking ability and use of technical words.  

Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.

To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
