Learning Objectives
In historical-pedagogical research, the History of Education represents a new direction related to the social dimension of historical research. The course, starting from the lessons of Ariès and De Mause, is aimed at analyzing the history of childhood education looking at family, school, gender identity, play and work, forms of parental attachment and the emotional relationship between children and adults, denouncing the widespread phenomena of early sexualisation and exploitation of childhood. The course emphasizes the value of the "child age" and its central role in the development of humanity.
Program
Childhood and society in the Italian Twentieth Century
The course will focus on topics such as:
- the multiplicity and articulation of historical-educational research;
- the history of education and the main social areas of research;
- the historical and theoretical foundations of childhood history, considering international and national production;
- the discovery of childhood, from Ariés to DeMause, from Bertoni Jovine to Trisciuzzi, from Becchi to Cambi
- childhood and school
- childhood, family and parental relations
- childhood and gender identity
- childhood-related phenomena such as early sexualisation or exploitation
Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
In relation to the discipline the student will have to show:
- the knowledge of basic subjects related to the discipline of History of Education;
- the understanding of the fundamental concepts of History of Education and their educational implications;
- the ability to understand and critically analyze the History of Education in the light of the specific knowledge acquired in the pedagogical and historical field;
- the ability to use knowledge and concepts to design educational and didactic interventions.

- Assessment
Written test aimed at verifying conceptual knowledge, the ability to use it and the critical and methodological concepts of the discipline.
The evaluation criteria used for the tests are: - ability of historical contextualization; - relevance and effectiveness of the answers in relation to the contents of the program; - the level of articulation of the answer; - adequacy of the disciplinary language used.
- Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)
Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
