Learning Objectives

Starting from the knowledge acquired in the field of clinical psychology, the laboratory aims to develop clinical skills concerning diagnostic operations, evaluation of prognosis, outcomes and possible therapeutic interventions. This competence is embodied in the ability to develop clinical reasoning in the evaluation of individual cases. Clinical reasoning, starting from general knowledge acquired in the course of clinical psychology, must be able to lower this knowledge in the analysis of the single clinical case, putting in close articulation (maintaining the principles of coherence and ostensibility) the general theories of a clinical psychology with a phenomenological-dynamic approach with symptoms, lived experiences, the history of the individual patient and his relationships.

Program

The program aimed at achieving the proposed objectives is divided into two steps. The first step consists in the application of the various diagnostic criteria acquired in the theoretical training through the DSM5, the PDM2, the Kernberg structural interview or tools such as the SWAP 200 to single specific cases taken from the literature, from the experiences of the students or, better still, proposed by the teacher. The second step consists in making the diagnosis the starting point of a clinical reasoning that gives meaning to the patient's clinical picture by relating the clinical manifestations of his suffering with an in-depth knowledge of his lived world, and the history of his experiences, events life, any traumatic experiences, the history of his relationships. Particular attention will be paid, when possible, to the transgenerational dimension.
