Learning Objectives
The course will focus on known molecular aspects at the basis of some neoplastic diseases. The two meetings will be characterized by a common thread represented by the concepts of "correlation" and "causality", often confused and considered synonymous. Through the experience of the speaker there will be proposed examples of human diseases, understood from a molecular point of view, as examples of misinterpretation of causality between two phenomena. The objective is therefore to make understand how experimental data can be scientifically interpreted in the search for a causal pathogenetic mechanism. The course also aims to contribute to a study approach not "driven" by what is expected but inspired by a critical evaluation of the experimental data obtained.

- Epigenetic perturbations in Human Cancers
- Aging and Histone Code: the hope of a reversible phenomenon

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)

Teaching, Attendance, Course Books and Assessment
- Teaching
The course includes frontal lessons (delivered simultaneously also in telematic mode) in which the teacher explains the fundamental concepts and provides practical examples to promote understanding. Students are encouraged to participate during the lessons both to ask for clarifications to the teacher and to provide further insights or topics of their interest.
- Attendance
none
- Assessment
none
- Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)
Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
