Learning Objectives

The laboratory intends to illustrate how a literature search for scientific objectives is carried out and how a scientific communication is drafted.
The laboratory will present the main search engines and bibliographic databases; will introduce a practical search of literature for an area of interest, teaching how to collect relevant material and identifying the Impact Factor of scientific journals.
Finally, the laboratory will teach how to write a scientific communication using bibliographic management software for inserting bibliographic citations.
Students will be offered various exercises to be carried out in the classroom and at home, and the drafting of a final paper will be required.

Program

The Program included the following parts:

- Structure of a scientific article

- Bibliographic research and impact factor of journals

- Main bibliographic databases

- Structure and style of a quote

- Use of bibliographic management software

- Elaboration of a scientific communication

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)

- Learn how to carry out a practical search of the literature on a topic of interest

- Learn how to produce a scientific communication by inserting citations in the text and at the end of the text through the bibliography management software

Teaching Material

The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it

Attendance

Attendance is compulsory.

Attendance at the workshop is mandatory for all scheduled hours

Course books

No texts are provided. However, slides are an integral part of the study material

Assessment

Evaluation of the homework produced after each class and the final paper (including punctuality). Only a positive evaluation will award the credits provided by the workshop.

Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.

To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
