Learning Objectives
The objective of the course is to provide the basic and fundamental knowledge of the syntax of Spanish. The processes of the constituents of the sentence and the relationships that these contract will be analyzed. The course will have a theoretical cut, through the study of basic concepts (categories, functions, sentence types, etc.) and practical (with an interactive cut with the students), whose main purposes will be the syntactic functions and the approach and solution of certain syntactic problems.
Program
- The concept of "syntax"
- Grammaticality and related notions
- Word classes
- Phrase categories
- Constituent structures
- Grammatical functions
- Order of constituents
- Simple and compound sentence (focus on subordinate nouns)
- Spanish-Italian contrastive syntax issues
Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
At the end of the course the student will be able to recognize and analyze the main syntactic constructs of the Spanish language and to highlight any differences with respect to the Italian language. He must also be able to analyze a complex text and in particular to use strategies that allow cohesion and coherence.
Knowledge and understanding: at the end of the course, the student will have acquired the main tools of syntactic analysis of Spanish, and will have developed a reflection on some issues of Spanish-Italian contrastive morphosyntax.
Applied knowledge and understanding: the student will be able to recognise, analyze and use the main syntactic constructs of the Spanish language.
Making judgments: the student will be able to re-elaborate the theoretical information acquired in the course to apply it to the analysis of sentences and texts in Spanish.
Communication skills: the student will be able to master the four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) foreseen for the exiting levels. This objective will be pursued through linguistic exercises.
Learning skills: the student will be able to apply the linguistic knowledge learned and practiced in the lecturer by integrating them with the technical terminology and formal analysis methods acquired during the course
