Learning Objectives
The course aims at offering an overview on cultural geography fundamentals in terms of contents and methods. By tracing the path of the discipline from its beginnings to modernity, we intend to provide the coordinates for the interpretation of places and spaces in relation to the value they acquire for human communities. The course wants to draw attention to the relationship between our existence and nature, society and transcendence that can be observed through the interpretation of the symbols and values that characterize places. We will try to put in constant connection theory and practice, the latter intended as research and in-depth analysis, in order to provide interpretative keys of real cases that will indeed be examined during the course of the lessons. Particular attention will be paid to the theme of the cultural landscape.
