Learning Objectives

The course aims to provide students with basic knowledge on the main pathologies and the most frequent traumas that can occur at the level of the musculoskeletal apparatus, but also at the level of other organs and systems that have repercussions on the level of structure and function of this apparatus. Specifically, the knowledge acquired aims to develop knowledge of the anatomical and structural modifications of bones, muscles and joint components in various congenital, inflammatory and traumatic pathologies, in order to allow the student to recognize the causes of reduced or modified motor ability.

Program

Congenital deformations. Alteration of normal body morphology. Spondylolysis, Spondylolisthesis. Scoliosis. Disc herniation. Congenital dysplasia of the hip. Knee valgus and varus. Clubfoot, flat foot. Bone remodeling. Osteoporosis. Rickets and osteomalacia. Osteomyelitis. Fractures: etiology, pathogenesis, evolution, therapy. Dislocations. Sprains. Osteoarthritis, synovial fluid pathologies, rheumatoid arthritis. Tendinopathies. Traumatic injuries of the tendons. Pathology of the rotator cuff. Epicondylitis. Traumatic injuries of the muscles. Muscle tear. Muscular dystrophies. Congenital and acquired myopathies: anatomical, structural and ultrastructural muscle modifications. Inflammatory, metabolic and neurogenic myopathies. Anatomy of Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease.

There are no prerequisites.

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)

At the end of the course the student will be in possession of the basic knowledge of the most common structural modifications of bones, muscles and joint components that occur in various congenital, inflammatory and traumatic pathologies. No teaching support activities are foreseen
