Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)

Knowledge and understanding
The student will acquire the knowledge of the systems currently usable for the geological survey, also understanding the methodological bases.
His level of knowledge and understanding will be measured by evaluating his language and the correspondence of the methodological bases.

Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
The course is highly practical. The student will apply his knowledge during all the phases of the course and at the end he will have to be able to implement all his acquired skills.
Both on the ground and in the laboratory, the student will have to demonstrate that the knowledge acquired is put to use with feasible applications.

Autonomy of judgment
The student will also be able to develop the projects originally, developing skills that will allow them to face unexpected situations and find original solutions.
He must be able to understand whether measurements or data processing are reliable or not.

Communication skills
The student must be able to communicate in different ways (reports, presentations, etc.) the results and summaries of the work performed. In addition to individual work, teamwork will be important where students need to communicate with each other. Students will also be encouraged to present their work during external conferences. He must be able to use the specific language, possibly communicable even to non-experts in the field.

Learning ability
Since this branch of computer science applied to geosciences is in continuous and rapid evolution, the student must be enabled to learn the new techniques and methodologies autonomously. The student will have acquired the ability, in the light of his own knowledge, to propose original solutions in the field of tools and methods.

Teaching Material

The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it

Teaching, Attendance, Course Books and Assessment

Teaching

In door lectures; digital laboratory; field laboratory

Attendance

Even the attendance stronly help the student, the presence is not mandatory

Course books

pdf texts from classes (see blended learning web pages)

Assessment

Individual project and oral examination.

The topic of the individual project has to be agreed with the instructor and it has to be delivered 7 days before examinations. The oral exam consists of a discussion on the project.
The final assesment will be determined by arithmetical mean by grade of the project and examination.

Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.

To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.

Notes

The course has a very practical character that serves for effective professional work and research on the ground, therefore the student's attendance and his direct relationship with the teacher become important learning vehicles.

Students must equip themselves with the materials and tools necessary for carrying out the exercises in the classroom and on the ground such as. The teacher will recommend the most appropriate materials and models during the first lessons.

For exits on the ground, materials for individual safety are also required. In addition to suitable clothing for the season and boots with sculpted soles, you also need a high-visibility vest and mountaineering or construction helmet.
