Learning Objectives
Multilinguism as a political and didactic challenge
Multilinguism is not new as a phenomenon. Languages that differ form the official language have been alwazs present in private and public contexts. As a consequence of internationalization this has become more important. Therefore multilingulism has moved more and more in the focus of political and social debates and it has become an important issues in the organization of language learning programms. The course will face some related debates and discuss them. Departing from a general view on multilingualism it will concentrate on issues related to German language questioning how schools and otjer public instituions can face the challenges of multilinguism and can develop strategies to value the opprtunities of the presence of many languages.
