Learning Objectives
The course of Cognitive Psychology describes Intelligence, Thinking, and States of Consciousness.
Hypnosis is an advanced investigation of States of Consciousness.
Program
The first part of the course concerns Intelligence, Thinking, and States of Consciousness.
The second part of the course concerns Language and communication.
Intelligence
The main models (e.g., general factor and multiple intelligences).
Assessment of intelligence in the life cycle.
Relationship between intelligence, genetic and environmental factors.
Thought
Perception and imagination.
Problem solving.
Deductive and inductive reasoning.
Cognitive styles of information processing.
Decision-making processes: bias and heuristics.
Insight, intuitive thinking and creativity.
States of Consciousness
Mechanisms underlying sensorimotor interactions between the individual and the surrounding world and the construction of mental representations from sensory data through cognitive information processing.
Higher-order mental processes as a set of structures and processes of cognitive information processing, emerging from the integrated functioning of the central nervous system.
Cognitive mechanisms and neural bases of cognitive control (executive functions/decision-making processes).
States of consciousness, vigilance and biological rhythms.
Communication and Language
What is communication.
Verbal and non-verbal language.
Neurological bases of language.

Frontal lessons.

Students will have to read and comment on articles that will be discussed in class using the 'debate' mode.

- Assessment
WRITTEN examination in ITALIAN.
The student will be asked 11 forced-choice questions plus TWO open questions.
The duration of the examination will be 25 minutes.
- Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)
Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.

2.3 "Ipnosi in ambito psichiatrico e psicoterapeutico" - one chapter at choice by the student among the following chapters: Psicosi; Disturbi depressivi; Disturbi d'ansia; Disturbo ossessivo-compulsivo; Disturbi correlati a traumi; Disturbi dissociativi; Disturbi della nutrizione e dell'alimentazione; Sovrappeso e obesità; Disturbi del sonno-veglia; Disturbo borderline.
