Learning Objectives
The course aims to provide students with the theoretical competences and technical/practical skills needed to assess fitness components and implement customised physical activity protocols on healthy subjects.
Program
Assessment of aerobic capacity,
Anthropometric assessment such as BMI and Plicometry,
Assessment of basal and exercise metabolism,
Strength assessment,
In-depth analysis of strength exercises,
Presentation of the ACSM guidelines,
Drawing up a customised fitness training programme with the use of gym and makeshift machines/tools
Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
Learning outcomes of a theoretical nature. The student should possess:
demonstrated knowledge and in-depth ability to understand the theoretical notions underlying the different methods of functional assessment and exercise prescription in healthy subjects.
ability to elaborate, from an applicative point of view, what is indicated in the previous point, in order to contextualise and personalise the notions for a subsequent and correct practical application.
Learning outcomes of an applicative nature. The student must possess
ability to apply the theoretical notions in the practice of functional assessment and exercise prescription;
Integrated learning outcomes (theoretical-practical). The student should have developed:
ability to integrate theoretical knowledge and practical skills in order to correctly interpret the results, overall or partial, obtained from functional assessment.
ability to use the results of functional assessments in the programming of the variables that define an exercise protocol for health or performance purposes, and in the design of the trend of these parameters over time;
ability to clearly and directly communicate the results of the functional assessment and the exercise programming resulting from it, both with a jargon and terminology intended for sector interlocutors, and with a jargon intended for non-specialist interlocutors (which in most cases are the test subjects);
theoretical-practical learning skills and techniques that enable him/her to deal with specific knowledge that is constantly changing and therefore implies the need to study and update autonomously also in the working environment.
Teaching Material
The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it
Teaching, Attendance, Course Books and Assessment
- Teaching
Practical exercises with possible remote work.
- Attendance
Minimum attendance requirement: 70 % of scheduled hours (3 CFUs).
- Assessment
Assessment of a minimum number of attendances and evaluation of any homework done by the student.
- Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)
Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
Additional Information for Non-Attending Students
- Attendance
Minimum attendance requirement: 70 % of scheduled hours (3 CFUs).
