Learning Objectives
- provide the historical-literary knowledge for the contextualization of an author and a lyrical work
- acquire the skills of critical analysis of a nineteenth and twentieth century text in poetry
- acquire the ability to identify the forms of opera
- acquire the ability to identify the various opera techniques
- identify the thought and the message of the author through the representation
Program
Italian poetry between the 19th and 20th centuries.
First stage of the course: The main metrical forms. The metre of verse. The free verse. The main themes.
Second stage of the course: Brief biography and history of the Canti. Analysis of Leopardi's texts;
Second stage: brief biography and history of the Odi Barbare. Analysis of an ode by Carducci. barbarian metrics.
Third phase: brief biography and history of Myricae Analysis of texts by Pascoli.
Fourth phase: short biography and history of Alcyone. Analysis of a lauda by D'Annunzio
Fifth phase: short biography and analysis of poems by Saba and Palazzeschi, Ungaretti
Sixth and final phase: brief biography and history of Ossi di seppia, Occasioni, Bufera e altro, Satura. Analysis of some of Montale's poems
The course textbook anthologises one text per author followed by critical commentaries, the lecturer will provide in blended form other texts and other commentaries that will be the subject of examination, namely by Leopardi; Pascoli and Montale. Particular attention will be paid to Pascoli's poetry in view of its possible use in primary school.

knowledge and understanding: solid knowledge and understanding of the main authors and poetic texts of Italian literature between the 19th and 20th centuries is required
applied knowledge and understanding: ability to decode the texts in question, to contextualize the authors and works within a specific literary context
independence of judgement: knowing how to reflect critically on the lyrics in question, knowing how to question commonplaces on the exegesis of the lyrics and determine whether or not they have scientific validity.
communication skills: mastery of the language specific to literary studies ability to learn: development of technical knowledge and formal reasoning skills necessary to (i) critically and independently undertake the analysis of the texts in question ; (ii) development and critical elaboration of an overall exegesis on the different ways of representing poetic themes (iii) identification of the formal and thematic peculiarities of the various lyrics

In order to sit the exam as an attending student, attendance at lessons is compulsory for at least 80% of the number of hours, i.e. 29 hours out of the total of 36.

Written. The test consists of a test with closed and open-ended questions
The assessment method will consist of the proposal of open-answer and closed-answer written questions; evaluation method: overall mark out of thirty.
Evaluation criteria:
30 cum laude: excellent: excellent knowledge of the contents, critical and personal reworking, precise and adequate language
27-30 excellent: broad knowledge of the contents; appropriate language; organicity of the discourse, coherent and effective arguments
24-26: good: adequate knowledge of the contents, appropriate language; good organization of arguments
21-23 discreet: more than enough knowledge, overall correct language, suitable arguments
18-20 sufficient: relative knowledge of the contents with some imprecision and / or simplification of concepts, simple language with some improprieties, linear exposition
Insufficient evidence: serious gaps in knowledge and / or misunderstandings in concepts, inadequate and incorrect language, incoherent exposure.
- Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)
Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
