Learning Objectives
1- The educational targets of section 1.4 are those to provide the students with:
- Basic theoretical and practical knowledge in order to analyze the state of preservation and the causes of degradation of preparatory layers and of paint film of wooden artefacts.
- Knowledge of materials and of traditional and innovative methods to be used to fix and consolidate the preparatory and paint layers.
- Knowledge of materials and of traditional and innovative methods to be used during the exposed treatment of wood finishing (trattamento di finitura del legno a vista) and the finishing of the paint layers of wooden artefacts.

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
KNOWLEDGE AND COMPREHENSION SKILLS
At the end of the section, the student should have learnt that theoretical knowledge indispensable to recognize materials and execution techniques of preparatory and paint layers implemented on a wooden artefact and the course of their degradation.
KNOWLEDGE AND APPLIED COMPREHENSION SKILLS
Furthermore, the student should have become able to identify on the base of the acquired theoretical notions, materials and techniques for the operations of consolidation and fixation of preparatory layers and paint film of a wooden artefact and materials and traditional and innovative techniques for finishing artefacts in natural or polychrome wood.
AUTONOMOUS JUDGEMENT
At the end of the section, the student will have to identify and propose materials and appropriate intervention techniques on preparatory layers and deteriorated polychromies.
The student will have to demonstrate the attitude to develop, according to a personal judgement, all the theoretical information and the practical experience acquired throughout the section.
COMMUNICATION ABILITY
At the end of the section the student will have to be able to communicate in a clear and justified manner the own judgment on the conservation state of the artefact taken in consideration and, especially, on the type of conservative intervention to be carried out on the different types of polychromy present in a wooden artefact.
LEARNING SKILLS
The student will have to demonstrate to be able to learn and develop in a personal and independent way the theoretical information received by the professor and to have acquired, through the practical experience, the necessary craftsmanship to correctly execute consolidating interventions and the fixing of a deteriorated paint film and preparation of an appropriate protective film.
Teaching Material
The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it

- Assessment
Presentation of a written report related to the laboratorial activity carried out during the section. The report must be sent to the professor a week before the exam date. Oral examination on topics treated during the frontal lessons and/or on textbooks indicated in bibliography.
- Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)
Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
