Learning Objectives
The course aims to analyse the religious phenomenon as it has developed in different faiths and how these different realities can achieve a positive cultural and spiritual exchange through a positive interreligious dialogue. In particular, the course is aimed at knowledge and understanding:
- of religion as reality and possibility for past and present societies;
- of the founding characters of Monotheisms, Induism and Buddhism;
- of the elements of affinity and distinction at spiritual, symbolic and practical realm of different religions;
- of fondamentalism as the main phenomenon of opposition to the interreligious dialogue;
- of the significance, importance and possible ways of building a real interreligious dialogue.
Program
- The contemporary wordl between globalization and multiculturalism. The phenomena of the religious;
- Monotheisms: genesis, historical and spiritual development, common features and diffusion;
- Hinduism and Buddhism; genesis, development, peculiarities and diffusion;
- Fundamentalism as the main phenomenon of opposition to the interreligious dialogue: origins and current situation, common characteristics and comparison between the peculiarities in Monotheisms;
- Nowadays the diffusion of religiosity and the possibilities of interreligious dialogue;
- Exhortations and positive experiences of interreligious dialogue.

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
At the end of the course, the student:
- must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the specific characteristics, in content and structure, of the differet analysed religions (knowledge and understanding);
- must demonstrate mastery, familiarity and critical sense in considering content concerning the specificities of different religions (making judgements);
- must be able to relate consciously and effectively to interreligious dialogue (applying knowledge and understanding);
- must have the appropriate tools to communicate and promote their research on religion and dialogue in accademic and non-accademic context (communication);
- must be autonomous in continuing the critical study of the religious phenomenon (learning skills).

Classroom-taught lessons with the support of slides.

Debate to facilitate the comparison of proposals to interreligious dialogue.

The minimum frequency at three-quarters of class hours is required.

Oral test on the assessment of theoretical knowledge, presentation skills and argumentation in relation to the lessons' arguments to promote interreligious dialogue.
- Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)
Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.

Individual study of the parts of compulsory texts and documents uploaded on Moodle supported by the possible analysis of recommended reference texts. Possible interview with the teacher for any doubt, need of clarification or further study.
