Learning Objectives

The course aims to provide the students knnowledge about organs and systems and skills to make connections among them.

Program

The chemical components of cells. Small molecules (sugars, fatty acids, amino acids, nucleotides) and macromolecules (lipids, proteins, nucleic acids).

Introduction to the structure and function of the cell.  Structure and function of plasmamembrane. Lipid bilayer,  trasmembrane and peripheral proteins. Description of the various cellular organelles. Cytoskeleton.  Meiosis and mitosis.

Tissues. Epithelial tissue: lining epithelia, glandular epithelia. Connective tissues: connective tissues proper, supporting connective tissues. Blood and lymph. Muscle tissues. Nervous tissue.

This part of the program (  The chemical components of cells, Introduction to the structure and function of the cell, tissues.) will be carried out in the first semeste

Organs and systems.  Locomotor system: bone typology and nomenclature of skeletal bones. Structure of the skull. Shoulder girdle and upper limb. Vertebral column and toracic cage. Pelvic girdle and lower limb

Circulatory system.  Structure of the arteries, veins and capillaries, pulmonary circulation and systemic circulation. Anatomy of the heart.

Central nervous system: spinal cord, brain stem, cerebellum, diencephalon and telencephalon. Brain ventricular system. Meninges, cerebrospinal fluid and CSF circulation.

Autonomous nervous system, with particular reference to the parasympathetic and orthosympathetic sections, to the constituent structures and to the target organs.

The part of the program relating to organs and systems will be carried out in the second semester.

Bridging Courses

The school policy of Pharmacy do not suggest propedeutic exams for this teaching.

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)

The student has to  demonstrate that he has achieved a knowledge and understanding of Anatomy that allows him / her to set up the discussion of theoretical issues in a logical and complete way.

The student has  to demonstrate that they are able to set up the treatment of application problems in the f Anatomy's field.

The studen has to demostrate to be  able to independently different opinions on problematic aspects of the Anatomy

The student has to demonstrate to  achieve a good learning ability, not only in the form of memorizing the information studied, but also in the form of organizing his own thoughts around the different topics of the course.

The student has to  demonstrate the ability to examine and understand scientific tpapers (in English) relating to topics in the field of Human Anatomy.

Teaching, Attendance, Course Books and Assessment

Teaching

Frontal lessons

Attendance

There are no particular obligations.

Course books

The student can choose from the following recommended texts:

Anatomia umana con istituzioni di Istologia.  Barbatelli-G. Edi-Ermes editore

Anatomia Umana. Martini, Timmons, Tallitsch. EdiSES editore

Assessment

The exam includes partial tests to be carried out in the periods permitted by the regulations of the School of Pharmacy.

The oral exam will be divided into 2/3 questions which will focus on topics not included in the partial tests. The oral exam is aimed at ascertaining the satisfaction of the points indicated in the "Dublin Descriptors" section.

Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.

To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
