Program
Introduction to Germanic philology: birth and genesis of the discipline, objects of study, applied methods, and objectives
Origins and development of Germanic languages.
Critical reading and discussion of some of the earliest written texts from various geographical areas.
The reception of the Arthurian legend in medieval German and English literature will provide us with an example for a critical reading and give us an opportunity to trace the origins and wide dissemination of this myth throughout the Central and Northern European area, where it finds its place in culture to this day.
This work will take us through laboratory activities of reading and analyzing some original texts in small groups.
