Learning Objectives
The main objective of the course is the acquisition of skills in the field of observation and critical analysis (i) of the phenomenon of the datification of the social dimension with particular reference (ii) to the security profiles connected to data processing and use of computer systems; (i.ii) to possible threats and vulnerabilities as well as (i.iii) to security measures for risk mitigation.

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
Students are expected to acquire:
a) knowledge and understanding of the theories dealt with sufficiently in-depth to develop autonomous skills of critical evaluation and an adequate critical and methodological capacity useful for the interpretation of the complex phenomena that the law is called to regulate.
b) ability to solve theoretical and applicative problems in complex relational contexts
c) ability to autonomously integrate their own knowledge
d) ability to communicate the knowledge acquired in a clear, essential and scientifically correct way and to convincingly support the argumentative comparison
e) ability to proceed in learning with autonomy and to develop a critical sense

Supporting Activities
Upon request, the teacher will arrange individualized support activities.
At the end of the lessons, a self-assessment tool is made available by the student in the form of a test with closed or open questions, delivered using the blended platform. The self-assessment does not entail the attribution of any score for the purposes of the exam. These are checks aimed solely at self-testing the degree of progress in learning and detecting any gaps.
Teaching, Attendance, Course Books and Assessment
- Teaching
The course will take place in the first semester and will consist of: lectures; group work and possible drafting of written papers; oral presentations; participated lessons in which the presented works will be discussed.
- Innovative teaching methods
The face-to-face teaching method will be enriched with individual and group exercises and in-depth studies, which students will carry out also using the University's Moodle platform. Some topics of the course will be treated following the practice of the "flipped lesson".
- Attendance
Attendance at the course is not compulsory, but active participation in the lessons is strongly recommended.

- Assessment
The final grade will be given by an oral exam.
The evaluation criteria and the scale of marks are as follows:
• less than 18: competence level insufficient. The student doesn’t reach the learning results described in “knowledge and understanding”;
• 18-20: competence level sufficient. The student attains the learning results described in “knowledge and understanding”;
• 21-23: competence level satisfactory. The student attains the learning results described in “knowledge and understanding” and in “applied knowledge and understanding”;
• 24-26: competence level good. The student attains the learning results described in “knowledge and understanding”, “applied knowledge and understanding” and “making judgments”;
• 27-29: competence level very good. The student attains the learning results described in “knowledge and understanding”, “applied knowledge and understanding”, “making judgments” and “communication skills”;
• 30-30 with honours: competence level excellent. The student fully attains the learning results described in “knowledge and understanding”, “applied knowledge and understanding”, “making judgments” and “learning skills”.
- Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)
Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
Additional Information for Non-Attending Students
- Teaching
Non-attending students are required to carry out all parts of the program through self-study.
It is worth noting the possibility of using the teaching materials and methods that will take place on the blended platform.
- Attendance
The study of the texts indicated for the exam program must be thorough and aim at achieving the expected learning outcomes.
- Course books
In order to give non-attending students the opportunity to compensate for what is done during the lectures with self-study, the following materials referring to the same programme content are provided in order to promote full understanding.

The text provided for the exam may be in english at the request of the student.
Based on the progress of the ongoing Covid19 pandemic, the methods of assessment may vary. However, the evaluation criteria will not be changed. Changes in the examination procedures will be duly communicated.
