Learning Objectives
Themes
The course aims to provide students with the necessary knowledge to critically examine constitutional law, especially from the perspective of the topicality and value of the Constitution.
The fundamental text of the Italian legal system is based on crucial values of the democratic State, such as freedom, equality and solidarity, which were not only the common starting point of the political forces represented in the Constituent Assembly, but are still deeply relevant today. Starting from the guiding principles that animate the Constitution and the Republic, the democratic choice does not neglect the opening to the international and supranational dimension.
Lectures are designed to provide a key to analysing both the formal and the material characteristics of the Constitution.
The course consists of 6 lectures of one hour each, as follows:
- Characteristics of the Constitution
- Justificatory foundations
- Democratic principle
- Pluralist principle
- Personalist and labour principle
- Opening to the international and supranational system
