Learning Objectives
Themes
The course offers an advanced training in the archaeological field, supported by up-to-date technologies and digital resources, integrated by knowledge of the area and also provided in the modalities of experiential teaching (laboratori; tirocini). The course focuses on contexts, monuments, productions and figurative arts of the ancient Mediterranean in its 'classical' cultural mark (Greek, Roman, Etruscan-Italian), with attention to the processes of transmission and permanence of classical antiquity in modern and contemporary culture and openings on the post-antiquity era (Byzantine and medieval ages).

Prospettive occupazionali
Objectives
The Master's Degree (LM-2) prepares for the profession of archaeologist and museum's curator-conservator (ISTAT classification). Graduates are able to carry out tasks of identification, documentation, analysis, study, management, protection, conservation, promotion and development of archaeological heritage at: superintendencies; museums; bodies and units of study, research and conservation that concern public and private entities and institutions (Region, municipalities, foundations); companies, cooperatives and other private groups able to collaborate with the entities in charge of the protection of archaeological heritage, from excavation (including preventive archaeology interventions) to public use; publishing, publications and other media specialized in the archaeological field. In addition, the Master's degree allows students to compete for admission to the Schools of Specialization in Archaeology and PhDs related.
Contents and structure of the course / Syllabus
Activities of PhD Students
The Master's Degree (LM-2) lasts 2 years and provides 12 exams for a total of 120 credits (CFU). Part-time enrollment is possible, with dilation over 4 years of the same Study Plan and related payment of fees. The characterizing teachings, mainly concentrated in the 1st year, make students acquire advanced scientific, theoretical, methodological and operational knowledge and skills in the fields of archaeology, history-epigraphy and art history, complemented by targeted technical-scientific knowledge. Optional teachings, laboratories and internships (excavations/reconnaissances) are concentrated in the 2nd year and complete the cultural and professional profile of students, privileging a multidisciplinary offering and practical activities. The final examination consists of the discussion of a written paper produced under the guidance of a lecturer.

- provides for excavation activities, reconnaissances and field research pursuits in Italy and abroad;
- promotes the specific use of the English language;
- encourages participation in Erasmus+ programs;
- organizes complementary activities (study trips in Italy and abroad, seminars, conferences, conventions etc.);
- has museum spaces and laboratories of advanced digital technology (Imaging for Humanities);
- through the University Library System (SBA Uniurb), ensures a wide range of specialized library sources for exams' preparation and final exam's elaboration
