The course intends to read male and female poetry written during the Great War using both literary analysis and a historical-cultural approach.

Modalità didattiche

The course, consisting of both lectures and seminars, will be held in English.

Obblighi

Students, who are are required to attend lectures and seminars, are invited to read at least A. MARCHESE, L’officina della poesia or G. LEECH, A Linguistic Guide to English Poetry (see Programme) before lessons start. They will take active part in the course, through seminars, discussions and oral presentations. They will also probably be asked to write a short essay in English – “tesina” – before sitting for the exam.

Exams are oral (the whole exam is in English). Language fluency and the mark obtained for the essay are part of the final assessment.

Disabilità e DSA

Non-attendants’ programme will be issued at the end of the module.

Obblighi

Non-attendants are asked to get in touch with their professor in order to define the subject of individual essays (which will be written and assessed before the oral exam). They are also to integrate the set readings with further material that will be suggested at the end of the course.
