Catia Grimani (CG) è nata a Terni nel 1963. Si è laureata in Fisica all’Università di Perugia. A partire dal lavoro di tesi si è sempre occupata di Fisica dei raggi cosmici, ioni energetici di origine galattica che giungono al culmine dell’atmosfera in numero di circa 1000 m2  s-1. Subito dopo la laurea è stata Post-Doc e Research Assistant Professor alla New Mexico State University (Las Cruces, USA) dove ha lavorato con il Prof. Robert L. Golden, a cui è stata conferita la Distinguished Public Service Medal dalla NASA (la più alta forma di riconoscimento che la NASA conferisce ad un soggetto non dipendente governativo ai tempi della scoperta) per la scoperta dell’antimateria barionica nei raggi cosmici. A seguire, CG ha lavorato per cinque anni come ricercatore dell’Istituto di Fisica Nucleare presso la Sezione di Perugia e dal 1997 è stata ricercatore e professoressa associata all’Università di Urbino Carlo Bo. Attualmente è core team member delle missioni dell’Agenzia Spaziale Europea LISA e Solar Orbiter nella Collaborazione Metis. In questa ultima collaborazione è anche Topical Team Leader per i raggi cosmici. E’ altresì responsabile per la Sezione INFN di Firenze degli esperimenti LISA e SAMADHA. E’ infine responsabile scientifico di contratto dell’Agenzia Spaziale Europea ITT10081. Dal 2021 è responsabile del WP Spazio nell'ambito della Collaborazione HASPIDE in risposta ad una call competitiva del Gruppo V dell'Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare.
