Luigino Ceccarini / Professore Ordinario

Luigi Ceccarini (PhD) is Professor of Politics at the Department of Economics, Society and Politics (DESP) of the University of Urbino Carlo Bo (Italy), where he currently teaches “Politics and Global Society” (Ma Level) and “Public Opinion, media and Democracy” (Ba Level).

He holds the position of Head of the School of Political and Social Studies (since 2020) and serves as the scientific coordinator of LaPolis - the Laboratory of Political and Social Studies (founding member).

He is part of the Steering Committee and the Board of Scholars for the International PhD Programme in Global Studies, since its establishment in 2017 at the University of Urbino Carlo Bo.

He also serves as:

• senior researcher for the polling organisation, Demos
• member of the Italian National Election Studies (Itanes) working group at the Istituto Cattaneo;
• member of the scientific committee of Sise (Italian Society of  Electoral Studies);
• member of the scientific board of IREF – Istituto di Ricerche Educative e Formative (since 2023);
• member of the board of directors of the Political Science series published by Maggioli (founding member);
• member of the scientific board of the journal “Studi Urbinati. Scienze giuridiche, politiche ed economiche”;
• member of the scientific board of the journal “ComPol - Comunicazione Politica”;
• member of the editorial board of the journal “Contemporary Italian Politics”.

He held the position of

• president of the Italian Society of Electoral Studies (2022-2025);
• co-editor of the Italian Journal of Political Communication, ComPol (2019-2023)
• member of the Steering Committee of the AssoComPol, the Italian Society of Political Communication)
• member of the Executive Committee of the IPSG-Italian Politics Specialist Group (PSA Political Studies Association UK) in which capacity he served as the SISP & Italy Liaison Officer.

Research interests area:

the relationship between society and politics, new forms of civic and political participation, digital politics, electoral behaviour, generations, political culture and the transformation of representative democracy.
